If these names mean anything to you, then you’ll already be familiar with the UK Spoken Word circuit; an underground arts scene that has transcended space and time to bring us a world of lyrical skill, dexterity, rhythm and rhyme.  These artists, plus MANY more, were instrumental to the success of a scene that thrives today and which has helped pave the way for a new generation of orators and performers to spread their messages.

From South London to Philadelphia, Birmingham to Toronto, UK Performance Poets and Spoken Word artists have shared this phenomenal art-form with millions of people on hundreds of stages across the world.  With the legacy of a foundation scene at risk of being forgotten, 1 fourth of Best Kept Secret, AmeN NoiR, set about documenting history and bringing the underground, over-ground. Enter Underword, a snapshot of spoken word legacy.

This full length, feature documentary is a must see for anyone with an interest in; or love of spoken word.

Enjoy the journey of a story that before now, has been untold

Underword also captures the thoughts of other magnificent U.K artists such as London’s Soul sensation Don-E, Mercury award nominee Rapper/MC T.Y, Ivor Novello award winner Michelle Escoffery, Mr Cee Comedian and more, which have all been in direct contact to this thriving underground art.
